Been trying to find whats suppose to be painted green, seems to be a change depending on the year? A breakdown of parts would be very useful

Would anyone be able to help or point me in the direction as trying to get as near to original as possible. Many thanks

I will start with the replies by saying; I think your engine should be painted (sprayed) middle bronze green. In that period the complete unit was sprayed green. I like the deep bronze green colour as well and who knows what the original colour was after all these years. :) :) :)

There is a full thread on the somewhere but can't find it at the moment.

The engine and ancillaries were all painted up together, so for example, my old starter motor has a little black on the inside where the green didn't reach.

This video should help ;-)

This subject has been covered many, many times. It is however almost impossible to find using the search function because the words "Paint" "Engine" & "Colour" are WAY TOO COMMON.

I too am trying to find topics re: painted parts.
Has anyone found them?

I am looking for info re: these parts.

1) lower front engine mount than also holds radiator bracket.
2) remote shift housing which attaches to gearbox/differential.

Just watched the Mini factory assembly video.
I see the front bracket is painted engine color (green).
I will not paint the remote housing.
Thanks all.

The only vehicles painted in the engine colour of MID-bronze green were Land Rovers for UK foreign armies in the Far East including Malaya, Singapore and Hong Kong plus some. There were also DEEP bronze green mini's too. Those supplied to the Forces. Unbelieveably, the RAF and Navy had to pay extra for their greyish-blue and navy blue minis because the orders were quite small. Unlike the Army big orders.

As a matter of interest, Derek Rayner, formerly of Marks and Spencer put a stop to that different colour nonsense. He told the RAF and Navy that they'd have deep bronze green like the Army. Same as their Bedford trucks! Later, he told the forces generally that any vehicle that wasn't 'field bound' would be the standard off-the-shelf manufacturers colours.
