Webber 45- blow back?

Has anyone had any experience with running a single 45 Webber mated to a short manifold so you don’t have to cut the bulkhead?
I have it all in place, but the ram pipes angle into the binnacle. I am worried that they could spit back into the binnacle and start a fire??????????
Has anyone ever tried fitting socks to the Webber? Does this help? Are there flame resistant ones available?
My other rally car has a lovely ally box fitted to the bulkhead, which is a much better idea. But need to keep this one “as it is”.
Bother Webber and manifold are correct 60’s items.
The lesson begins............................

We run Weber’s on earlier race cars and from time to time have had them on fire normally on cold start.
Modern starter motors help a lot and make things a lot safer, float level and carb Angle are important.
I’m not a fan of foam filters they suck in when wet/dirty or just cause a bigger fire..

I be got a 45 on the race car. No cutting to bulkhead and run foam air filters. The trumpets are slightly angled.
No issues but I do have a metal box to act as a firewall so the speedo is about 1 1/2” further into the car.
I’d never run a car without a filter. Sorry only photo I’ve got

Have you nibbled the bulkhead panel then to allow clearance? (You can answer by PM if you prefer

)
*EDIT ignore that question, I’ve just zoomed in on your photo Tim!* (is that ever questioned by the scrutineers?)
I’m building a car now with a Weber and won’t be altering the bulkhead as I didn’t with the Mutant but that was very tight and involved shaving the bottom of the trumpets.

Hi Pete
My trumpets are bent so clear. Drivers side goes up slightly passenger side bends towards the centre of the car. Never seen them for sale anywhere, they came with the carb 20 years ago.
I’ve never actually been questioned by scrutineers but I’ve seen cars with Weber boxes get through no problem!
When I was running the 998 I filed part of the trumpet bolt boss to clear the bulkhead and slightly bent the lip on the speedo opening but I think it’d be clear on a 1275 as it’s just slightly higher.

Up until recently I was running a swan neck manifold and a HP Hi-Flowair filter housing without need to modify the firewall. The HP airfilter has inbuilt trumpets which are similar to the Vizard recommended. It also takes a standard K&N filter.
