Hello Guys
We are currently rebuilding a mk1 850, the camshaft liner is "dead" (there is only one on 850)
I'm struggling to find some 850/998 camshaft liner
Can we put a 1275 camshaft liner? I'm wondering if the first one (Water pump side) is the same on small bore and big bore?
Thank you
Charles

Yes, the front and center ones are the same, it's only the pump one that's different, though as you are only after the front one, you'll end up with some spare parts.
<Edit: Somerfords are showing stock

Hello Spider
The 1275 camshaft liners, are available in France, I'm in the hurry with this project
I have a early mk1 bloc with only one liner.
If someone have a trick to pull the liner out??
Thank you for your help

Do yourself a favour and have the block line bored so you can fit the other 2 cam bearings. Anything above std valve springs & profiled camshafts in an 850 quickly starts to wear the original cam journals away.
If the 1275 cam bearing set is the only ones you can get, you will have to machine the oil pump end bearing down to suit the thinner journal. The 1275 bearing is wider than the 998/1100 bearing.
It is an added expense but worth it in the long run.
Simply tap the bearing out with an appropriately sized plug, I made mine from mild steel bar stock. I have an alloy set for installing the bearings.

OK, gotya and if there's some available locally, then sure, grab them.
I made a set of Extractor / Installer dollies. There have a 'top hat' shape.
As you don't have these and I'm guessing not the facilities to make them, you can knock the old one out with a soft dolly (Brass or Copper) and to install them, while I've not done it this way, some have carefully knocked them in with a soft (hide) mallet. Just be sure to line up the holes and have the Bearing the right way around before you start.
