Hi All. I see an increasing number of these units being used on 'feature' Minis and for fear of being left out I thought I should investigate further. Does anybody know what I need to buy, where from and how good they are? I am a competent solderererer(!) and my mate sets up F2 cars on lap tops for fun (can't ask him his opinion as away for 3 weeks) but i think I have the right ingredients. Looks like I need a coil pack from a 90's Ford but any other info (in particular the setting up afterwards) much appreciated before i go headlong in to it.
For the record engine spec is as follows:
1380, flowed ported head, 1.5 roller rockers, twin H4 carbs, 276 cam, LCB, RC40 single box. Currently Metro electronic dissy. Cheers. Mark

Re: Megajolt ECU- Is it true, is it false??
Got mine from 'Autosport labs' cost £71.50 including postage, mind you the exchange rate was a little better then. It took 5 days to arrive from Irvine california, wouldn't it be great if you could order stuff in this country and get it the same week.
Never having done any electrical soldering before, I went to Maplins and bought the cheapest self assembly printed board kit they had, just for practice. Soldered the maplins kit together, thought that was 'fooooking' easy and set about the megajolt. Couple of hours later it was done and all voltages checked and working. Wired it up to the mini took a plug out to check it was sparking, span it over and it started on 3, never seen a spark like this on a mini. Previously running a aldon 100ayp/ignitor and lucas gold coil.
The only problem so far has been a slight timing scatter, this was found to be the length of the ford fiesta (ohv) VR sensor. So replaced it with a shorter version from a zetec fiesta and that seems to have cured it, well in the garage it has, not tested on the road yet.
This problem was only the design of my bracket and if it had been a little thought out/supportive of the length on the ohv sensor I'm sure it would have worked fine. Scrapyard bits cost me 20 quid and a set of BPR6ES resistor plugs as it didn't like the BP7EV's I had in there.

I've just bought one too, got mine assembled though! The components are very small, (I know old f@rt etc.)
You need Ford (Can I say that word here?) EDIS module and coil etc.
See this for a good guide.......
