Speedo cowl oval chrome beading fitting help

Any tips and tricks to fitting the oval chrome trim. Just spent 2 hours chasing the little bastrd clips around the bench and swearing merrily to no great effect. The trim and clips are all new if this makes a difference - I know the trim is a slightly different shape to origional but this is not a problem as it is in a bespoke dash and the holes drilled to suit

Cheers, Grumpy Gordon

Hi Gordon,
Use long nose pliers to pull the two eyelets together, this tightens the clip into position,
1071 Bob will give a much better description and great pictures😉😉

As requested! I used to make my own clips with longer legs which enabled you to get your fingers in between the trim and the binnacle to fit the clips legs in the holes easier, these were trimmed off afterwards. Another tip is to make sure the joiner piece is a tight fit in the trim otherwise the gap would open up when fitted. I used to loctite them in.
