Engine bay brake/clutch pipes for 65 S

Anyone able to post up some pics of correct shape and positions of the brake pipes in the engine bay ? I've had a look in the two usual books, but nothing really clear.

Also, does the clutch pipe come out of the master cylinder and go straight down to the hose with a wide radius or with a narrow radius and then has a set in it further down to bring it in line with the hose ? I've seen both types on cars ...

This is how I did it on 9748KO but not sure how accurate it is.

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the pic .. interesting that the servo pipes go over the top of the servo. I've seen pics like that and also ones that go underneath, in a similar fashion to how I did them on 9748KO.

See what else is forthcoming :?

Andrew

Thanks for that pic :)

From a couple other period pics I've seen, it seems that the earlier cars with the short (finish at the triangular reinforcer) air hose have pipes over the servo and those with the full length hose go under the servo.

Yep, hopefully others can confirm :)

Can see from that pic the upper shape of the pipe from tee to brake light switch union too.

Noticed that brake line right away too, not like any I have run across......

That vacuum hose routing is also like nothing I have seen before either....

Hello Andrew,
I found another Road Test photo August 1964. I think you are correct. The lines go behind the booster when the long air tube is used.

Glen

Thanks for the input thus far everyone.

It does seem that where the long wait hose was employed the pipes went underneath and around the side of the servo but on the short hose type, they went over the top.

Its a shame that neither The Bible nor the Factory Original books show the short air hose.

I've had it on good authority that it does seem that the pipes go over the top on the short hose cars and underneath/around the side on the long hose cars.

As an aside, does the original S servo have three mounting studs on the diaphragm cover or two ?

But from the picture it's a left hand drive car!

Just found this - most likely taken off this site a couple of years ago???

Looks like the change point was when the PCV valve came in mid 64 ??

HOY is a March 65 and has the short hose, finishing at the triangular reinforcer.

It’s the route of the pipes on these cars I’m really interested in as all the pics I’ve seen of these cars have had the pipes over the top, as per the 1st period pic that Glen posted up on page 1 and as per aga2’s pics.

A fairly good view of a short pipe 65 S.

Ok, its been buggered about with a bit, but I believe the pipe positions are still more or less correct.

Thanks for posting that Mark.

I’ll go along these lines but will try to make it look a bit neater than the examples shown otherwise Rich will be on my case again
