I think I have ever seen a picture of a mini mk1 4 door on the net, but I can not find the photo.

Longbridge built one, but there was also a Japanese company that offered them in the 1990s.

Did anyone notice the (other) rare feature on this car internal hinges

this must be atleast 3-4 years (if not more? = square hole wheelcowers) before the MK III.

The blue one is in a recent MiniWorld, it has been lengthened by 6" in the rear, although its not that noticeable in the pictures. I assume the factory one was standard length?

You pretty much have to use internal hinges for the back doors or the pillar will need to be very wide. So it would look mismatched if the front hinges were still external.

Yes , DAN 4H ? I remember someone coming onto the forum years ago asking about it with a view to restoration. I've got a fuzzy picture of it somewhere.

Looks much earlier than that - badged as an Austin Seven as well as the early wheel trims.

Yes and there are no "buttons" on the doors, under the doorhandles.

Have you noticed the 60s one - the distance between the back of rear arch and the seam is a lot bigger also if you study the rear wing I would swear thats off 1100?

Would make sense then just make good and fit rear panel?

The front and back doors on the early car look quite symmetrical. Maybe the rear door is a front door cut to fit? Look at the window/glass frames. In that case, the shell would be longer than it originally was...?
The front door window frame does end with the door panel too, near the B pilar.

In 1966 the hornet and elf received internal hinges at the front doors. Could those on the 4-door Mk I have been prototypes

I saw the Rover one at the same show last year




The Austin version looks like it might be based on a van/traveller floor pan. I agree that the rear doors look like cut down front doors. Also the rear window looks flush, not recessed, so it's very early '60s, if not 1959.

The early version works far more elegantly to my eye than the Rover one.

DAN 4H, I think I've seen a couple of pictures on that one. Didn't it compete in the 1970 London to Mexico or something ?

Yes, it was called the World Cup Rally.
