I have a AEG 151 block that has the extra casting ribs on the front and rear of the block along with a solid casting below the Oil Pressure Relief opening so the block could be drilled for a motor mount and used on a Formula Jr.

They have a "name" for these blocks.... Does anybody remember what they called this very special block?

I am guessing here, but isn't it simply the FJ block?

There are a few different versions of what we call an FJ block. 251ENG is probably the best person who could give chapter & verse on these early blocks.

Thank you for this information... I see several references to 251ENG and that maybe this person is named Simon.... How would I be able to contact this person??

Has anybody seen a block that looks like this before?? Cast un-numbered main caps and the blocked not marked to match main caps... Main cap studs and not bolts. Has a 970 crank but short rods and flat top pistons... Any information on this block will be appreciated.

That IS NOT a "norm,al" 151 casting. Probably started life as a block for a single seater.

You can PM Simon via the forum.

This block is most odd , never seen one like it .

Its early so that would point to an inline engine but it's not.

Should have bolts to attach caps but has studs .

If it's been done for competition why is it not dry sumped ?

Would be nice to see a shot of the back of the block, and, the rear main bearing......

I'm guessing, that, it's an inline block, modded to Mini configuration....I've done a couple of 1275 Midget blocks that way......

Could it have a connection to Huffaker Engineering in California ? They built complete
race cars and had anything cast up they needed.

Just looked at pictures again .

Block has boss for the 1070 tag , that would mean it's not one of the very early blocks .

Could well have been an inline block converted , but would expect boss,a to be drilled a tapped for dry sump pipes

There are the three holes tapped by the rear main for a straight line crank rear main bearing...

I like the Huffaker Engineering idea.. I know Joe Huffaker Jr. so will send him pictures and ask him. Thanks for the idea!!

I will be selling this as a mini cooper/FJ block.

The only other thing to note is that the block was drilled for 11 head studs.. Nothing else new
