I have not run into this case before any info would be nice to know. I have several 1128s and plan to rebuild all 4 synchro I have. It seems 333s
are thin on the ground. Steve (CTR)

It's been debated a few times here before, but consensus is that they didn't use it exclusively on the Elf/Hornet - just that it is prevalent on those models so has become associated with them (for example, on Bart/Nick’s original list).

Just reading through previous posts on this forum shows that the 846 appears frequently across the Mini model range from ~1967 to late 70’s, and seems to be particularly common on export model Mini 1000s and CKDs.

Interestingly it looks like it was also used as a transition model gearbox, because the same casting was also available machined for rod shift - see last page of this thread. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1955. [As it was also used in the Mini van, that makes it the only gearbox casting with all three gear-change mechanisms from factory: Remote, Rod and Magic wand]

Thank you, I think I have the option of picking up another along with a 998 Cooper engine on top. With 190 cases out of sight and it looks like 333 are soon to follow I think 4 synchros are the way to go not to mention I sometimes like to use first gear. Steve (CTR)
