Cleaned off the center of the GT steering wheel....now it's time to ask for some input on the best way to restore it>
Not something I have done before. Based on the prices of GT wheels....don't want to mess it up. The outer part is in pretty good condition...just need to find a goldish/orange paint for the outer ring.
All suggestions appreciated.

I'd pop in to your local Model shop or Online and have a look at what "Humbrol" paints do.
I know Humbrol used to do a translucent Red that is very similar to the Red used on a Morris horn push.

Worth a look.

Nail gel / varnish is another option of you cannot find an appropriate colour paint. Depending on your access to equipment of course but some of the UV stuff dries nicely with a wide colour range

For tinting you could try glass paints. Here's an example.

For the missing plastic I would find someone who could turn a piece of clear acrylic that could then be polished.

The Tamiya type radio controlled cars are all painted acrylic from the inside too. I used to do this for one of the airbrush company's sponsored RC cars. Always made sure I used opaque colours.

I did an Austin badge for a friend once using the same techniques and it came up well. The pain was sorting out the sequences backwards, plus the patience using a very fine brush. The final black was airbrushed over everything. Finally, the plastic front took a bit of buffing as it had dulled a lot more than we had realised.
