British Vita 1968 transporter

Post by trevorhp »

Just about to begin the project to reconstruct the Vita transporter.
I have the correct BMC FJ K140 chassis and cab already along with enough additional chassis to replicate the 200” plus wheelbase chassis of the original.
I have just obtained a dropwell body similar to the original but in more up to date construction to meet current legislation
I do need considerable help in the finer details of the build as far as I am aware there are very few photographs in existence
If anyone has anything that might assist me in the project I would be very grateful and happy to acknowledge any assistance when the project comes to fruition.
I am also very willing to pay for any copyright materials either corporate or private
Please contact me in any way you feel appropriate
Thanks
Trevor

Wow!

That's a project & a half!

I'm afraid the only pics I have of it are already on my site & are only well known images. If I came across anything else, i will certainly pass it on.

Good point mark!

There is nothing worse like sitting at home after retirement and feeling useless.

Had to activate my father after his retirement last December with a new project...

That's a cool project you have here Trevor but a mountain of work

Wish you all the best with the Project and will look forward to see some pics!
I promise i won't buy another MkI...

Thanks guys all good information and encouragement
Bit weird
The Truck colour appears to change between Brno and Zandvoort Races from Blue at Hollingsworth Lake and the paddock in Holland
Maybe some Cooper influences there.?

I think the colour change is just an artefact of the different photographs. I'm sure the colour was always blue & white.

Yep definitely just the colour reproduction. I was told it was Oxford Blue, as per the blue V on the bonnet but I think was darker. Messaged you Trevor.

Hi Roger
The truck runs and drives thankfully
So ‘simply’.......
Just need to extend the chassis and prop shafts
Fit the new body
Connect cab to body per the original
And apply a coat of paint

These are old bromide copies of the original colour images from Norman Grimshaw which I published in the MCR mag many years ago which proved that CCC were using GT blocks. I can’t remember the circuit now, Zandvoort I think.
