mini from kuala lumpur
hello, my name is vennbill, from kuala lumpur, i am a newbie to classic mini, after reading this forum i decided to try my hands in some DIY mini project, it will be a great weekend hobby...
i just bought a classic mini recently, but not sure what year/model it is..???
here are the recently taken pics...
i haven't got any sepcific plan for this project yet, first i will get it to run/work properly, then work on the cosmetics...
i have removed all the interior parts, to see its bare skin/metal...
after cleaning/repair/replace the parts will be refitted back to the car,
so far, most of the parts removed are still usable, i need to get some new carpet/lining,
at the front, the engine is running ok, need some tidy up here, especially the wiring,
will check things up 1by1...
to be continue...

Looks like a post 1961 and pre 1965 Mk 1 shell but can't say much more then that from the pictures. The body number still seems to be on the front panel - that might be a help in dating the shell.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.

Re: mini from kuala lumpur
i think it may be a MK1 body, and had been moded / repaired over the years, the rear lights may have been moded to MK3's or later, most of the usual rust spots have been repaired/replaced with new metal (save me alot of time & cost), like the floor board, door sill, door, etc... the door (pair of blue color) was actually moded from a MK3 or later model, by cutting the window frame to make it lower to fit in the MK1 body, the roof metal is also quite recently new, so is the boot and bonet lid...

That is a nice project!
Certainly been round the block modification wise, but that is part of it's rich history!
Great to see that enthusiasts are still working on their Minis as far afienl as KL.
Keep up the good work.

Re: mini from kuala lumpur
To me it looks like a MK1 body and just about everything that would fit has been taken from a late 80's or 90's doner car. I think the doors are MK1 with pockets removed. I can't see the door latch too well.
Great project, and a lot less work to do than my own MK1 project.

As has been said! Looks like an interesting project!
I like the wing mirrors!
It does look like a later floorpan, engine and such as been used.
Good luck with it!
