This is a cracking find, not sure this price is right though.....

"So, he went to Austin and ordered a "Works Specification" Cooper S 1293cc engine. This cost him the grand total of £36:15:8 from Downton Engineering and he paid for it in full on 10th March 1969. He then went to Jack Knight and had a Mk III Mini limited slip differential fitted to the now rather "hot" former 850cc road car!"

It always amuses me reading the self indulgent rubbish they use to describe these cars. Usually about things they have the most rudimentary knowledge off.

Buying a std 1275 S motor s/h would have cost you at least £100 in 69 in a private deal.

id guess that they will have all the paper work that came with the car though?

but it does seem cheap, unless it was a 'cash' job that took into account where he worked?

Just lovely

Surely this car is the perfect example of what this forum is all about!

It certainly is a good 'un. Top job getting that in at 'no reserve' too. Be interesting to see what it makes. 'Barn finds' are making even better money than ever.

I'd have written better 'self indulgent rubbish' myself of course!!!

I've got something similar in my shed.

Sadly, it's not for sale :D

What a stunning period car, lets just hope it has a sympathetic restoration.

I hope it doesn't get restored at all, it's great as it is ! It'd certainly make an interesting road car !

sadly, he can not. It seems the car made 1 single outing "in anger", the driver, for whatever reason, deciding that life in the fast lane was not for him, trailered the car home, backed it into the garage and locked the door.

Sounds like my own short lived racing career :-)

That is indeed a brilliant find.
