Seat mounting brackets

I recently managed to pick up two NOS sets of the early type of seat mounting brackets. However I noticed there are slight variations. Could anybody shed a little light on subject? I take it that the ones with the biggest slot, thus allowing the seat pivot forward further would be the later ones. With the ones with the larger holes where they bolt on to the tunnel to be the newest.
