Sold (or donated?) to David Friswell for a programme of 5 private entries on major rallies. Third car to make up a team entry on 68 Acropolis with the two works entries. Badly damaged whilst being driven by co-driver and entire programme seems to have fallen apart.

Recce for Acropolis 67.
Recce for Monte 68.
Aaltonen demonstration/rally driving school teaching Austria.
Sale to Friswell closer to Acropolis 68 than Browning implies?

Sold (still damaged) (by Frizwell?) to Toney Cox? Sold on and re-shelled, Mk2 shell.

The above post is correct as a statement, but what is missing from it, is the fact that the Mk2 that it was re shelled with was actually another Mk2 Abingdon built Works Mini.
I saw the car in some detail many years ago, and it contains a beautifully built works loom, (that has never been out of the car) and is a fully prepared Abingdon Mk2.
This swap is clear from the details of the car, and from information supplied by those that were there at the time. The research into which car is ongoing, but suffice to say it is a proper car.
It would be a shame if such a car became labelled as just another re shell, as it is far more than that.

That’s great information Guy. Thanks for sharing. It will be interesting to know which mk 2 is involved if that information is ever discovered. The works car history is so fascinating.
