Acropolis May 66. Makinen/Easter. Gp2. 10th.
Polish Aug 66. Aaltonen/Liddon. Gp2. Retd.
Makinen and Aaltonen had swapped intended cars cars sometime before the start. Price reflects this but Browning has them the wrong way round. Makinen drove GRX555D.
Munich-Vienna-Budapest (The “3 Cities”) Oct 66. Makinen/Easter. Gp2. 1st.
Monte Carlo Jan 67. Lampinen/Wood. Gp2. 15th. New car?
East African Safari Mar 66. Aaltonen/Liddon. Retd – engine.
There were minor changes to the car between the photo taken at Abingdon and the start in Nairobi. An extra bonnet strap is the most obvious.
By winning the 65 RAC, Aaltonen had won a free entry for the Safari (it worked the other way around and a Safari winner won a free entry for the RAC). The single carb 1800 might have been a more realistic car to use, even at that stage of development...
Sold to Benbros Motors, Nairobi.
