I'd like to have a go at painting the van project myself. (Well at least the underneath, inside and engine bay).
I have a 100L 3hp compressor, but thinking about regulators/ water traps / spray guns. Any advice on these? Including plumbing? I have done some reading and lots of people seem to have multiple ideas. So if anyone can dumb it down for me, I would appreciate it .
I can only advise what I did,
First I set compressor in a different garage to where I paint and run 22mm pipe from the compressor to the area I work, put a few drop legs close to where I paint, I have a normal water trap/filter regulator on the wall, when painting I also have a coalescing filter after this which I use even if I aren’t using the airfed mask, then I have a small water separator mounted on the gun itself, I also bought a cheap thermometer and hydrometer I keep in area I paint and use an electric radiator to warm the area if needed prior to painting, but remove it from the area before I paint. Not sure what else I could do within the confines of a garage and the budget I wanted to spend.
For info though I also use the plastic static dust sheet as it’s very good. Also wear 3m disposable overalls and chemical resistant gloves,
For the gun I use a Shultz gun for underside, I have a cheap gun for primer and a devilbis sri pro for top coat with 1.2 transtech tip, this has very low air use but still a reasonable fan size, this leaves enough air for an airfed mask,
To get over the small pot I used faracla disposable cups.
