A friend of mine is campaigning a 998 race Mini in Norway. He has to use the 295 head and H4s. The engine has got standard crank, rods and D pistons. What would be a nice cam for this? 286/544?

sounds about right

i had a 276 in my mk2 cooper it was +.060" with a nicely ported 295 and standard size valves ect

it was fun to drive but wasnt hugely flexable for the road and you had to keep it revving to get a rapidish motion so a 286 for the track would be useable id say

544 if im correct in saying was designed as a small bore race cam so cant be far wrong

you need slowboy, he is a small bore competitor

im spliting hairs a smidge , but you have "full" race in the title , but mention standard crank and D tops .

It's not a Mini se7en, but it's a full race engine :) There are even fuller race engines out there.

Are you telling me that this isn't a race car?

1,5 rockers are illegal.

The cam fitted was a 286timed in at 103 degrees. What do you guys think of this? 3 degrees advanced in a small bore. Sounds about right?

Seen a couple of video's of that clubby, and it's certainly not driven like a race car.
