I'm sorting out a large pile of NOS handbrake cables and need to know which is longer; dry or hydro. The difference is small, maybe 1/2" but it would be nice to know so that I can label these correctly.

The main way to determine wet or dry is the position of the quadrant nipples rather than the total length .

That said, without finding a known wet and dry cable, I can't advise. Will have a look later to see what I have.

Thanks Andrew. I know it's where the quadrant nipples are. I have had some side by side using the thread at the front as the starting point. Then I see some outhouse nipples are further along.

On my dry saloon cables the centre of the nipple to the centre of the clevis pin hole is 14". Bit harder to measure from the nipple centre to the end of the threaded section but it looks like 48.75" Although the threaded sections seem to vary in lengths.

Thanks Bob. I'll try measuring. They do have different parts numbers so it's obvious there is a difference. Also, the quadrants are different as are the arms and the subframes. The common parts are the handbrake lever and the back plates I think.
