As the BP6ES are NLA available, what is the new "go to" plug? Will BPR6ES work just as well?
This is for both large and small bore

Thanks

NGK BP5ES for small bore and BP6ES for 1275. Still readily available here in NZ so more than likely available everywhere else.

One thing I will say is that NGK's don't like to get fouled. Not sure if it's specific to the brand or a consequence of unleaded fuel or some other factor. I've found if they get fouled from an overly rich fuel mixture and you then clean them they will continue to misfire, replacement is the only cure. Interestingly I also use Champion plugs in some cases and don't have the same issue which this brand.

BPR6ES Is the same as BP6ES apart from having 5ohm interference suppression

I use Champions my self, usually n9y or n9ycc.

NGK BPR6EY-II, been using those for 40 years.........Long reach, extended nose, copper core, designed for wider gaps, very similar to Champion N9YC.....

I run mine at .055, probably a bit wide for most, but, works for me......

I always used Champion N9Y in my 1000cc with my cooper 12g295 head & twin carbs.

Never had a problem with them.

Got some old stock N9Y's to put in mine once it is restored.

Champs all the way :D

Why not Resistor plugs, they provide a hotter spark.........

My current setup is, Lucas 12v Sport coil, BPR6EY-II (the -II denotes wide gap), set to .055 gap, points, 1.5 HS4, 1293 with 3.44 gears...Oh, and, a 630 cam....

I get instant startup, hot or cold (with a fairly lean carb setup), great driveability, and, over 42 MPG.....

I'll ask my guy if he can get some BP6ES.......

It appears you are correct, none in Southern Ontario.....

Not sure what your resistance is to resistor plugs, maybe time to step into the Dark Side......Try some, you'll like them.....

Fuel fouled plugs, I use NGK, can be cleared by heating the electrode end with a small propane/butane torch. I think this is burning the fuel off of the insulator. No matter how it's doing it, it always allows me to reclaim fuel fouled plugs.
