1275 Pushrod Options

Hi,

Since I can't find the set that belong with my 1380 engine and nothing much is forthcoming from my wanted ad, I'd like some advice on pushrods. The engine is a 1380 with SW10 cam and a Calver Supersports CST2002 head with uprated double valve springs. I'd normally go for a set of used OE pushrods but I'm not having much luck locating a decent set. There are a few sets on eBay in various states of rustiness and wear so I'd rather avoid that route which leaves me a few options:

New repro pushrods - http://minispares.com/product/Classic/E ... 314MS.aspx?
These are cheap but my concern with these is that MS don't recommend them for anything other than standard and my engine is not exactly standard!

Minispares 3-piece performance pushrods - http://minispares.com/product/Classic/E ... EG582.aspx?
Never used this type and I note they are larger diameter than standard so could end up with clearance issues and although I know that once they are in they can't fall apart, the 3-piece thing just doesn't seem right to me

MED billet steel pushrods - https://www.med-engineering.co.uk/cylin ... l-pushrods
These look & sound great but they are £££!

Does anyone have experience of actually using any of these three options in a fairly well modified engine? Or has anyone got a good set of straight OE pushrods without pips in the middle of the follower end that they'd part with for a sensible price?

I decided on the MEDS pushrods for my 8 porter....yes, a tad pricy but cheap when you consider what a blown engine will cost if a pushrod fails.
Sure there are some NOS pushrods around...maybe the seller in Spain may have some.

I’ve used the ms alloy push rods for the last 10 years with no issues. I’ve just pulled the engine apart for check and refresh and found minor rubbing on 5 of the 8 on the widest point. Nothing detrimental so have refitted them.

I'm using the MED pushrods with an offset valve head, 1.5 rockers and race cam, no problems so far.

MBE put minispares 3 piece pushrods in my 8 port - ONE SNAPPED - and destroyed an expensive new built engine

They are shit , you are better off using a cheesestring or piece of bamboo

MED rods are now in it

Not tried this supplier in the States - but first impressions look good and you can have the length you want.

Pricing for "Standard rods" looks Ok, my guess is will need to be a custom rod, but maybe not...

That's awful - the 3-piece design was my concern rather than them snapping entirely! Sounds like I'm gong to be taking a deep breath and paying for the MED ones if I can't get hold of any decent OE ones - it's better than the alternative!

I still have a brand new set of carbon fiber pushrods that I never had the courage to use. Are these ok to use or are they just a curiosity that belong in a museum at this point?

I wouldn’t bother with them, Swiftune only use the standard pushrods one their engines as they bend and save the rockers followers etc when buzzed.

I have some MED ones, well made but heavier.
