Hey guys I am hoping you can help me out here. I am selling a 62 Cooper shell and am including some of my spare parts with it. Problem is I also have an early February built 1960 Mini as well and am trying to figure out if some of these parts are for it or not. I plan on selling the 60 sometime soon because I don't think I will ever get to it. I don't want to accidently get rid of any of the correct parts for the 60.
I am including a left hand steering rack with the Cooper shell and want to make sure the one pictured here is for the 60. The original subframes were removed from the 1960 back in the early 70's and hydro ones were installed. I don't know if the rack in the car is original or the one here. The rack, which is still attached to the original subframe, has track rod ends with grease nipples which I have heard the early cars had. The rack also has a bulky; what appears to be brass, cover near the pinion gear. Is this correct?
I am also looking at 2 rear seats and they are a little different from each other. They both have a wire frame for the back squab but one has screws on the top and the other has studs. Are either of these correct for late 59 early 60? The only other squab I have seen is for my 63 Cooper and it is different.
Lastly I have a front windscreen and I am unable to date it. It is unlike any of my other glass. It is Triplex glass but the logo is different. Instead of "TOUGHENED" or "LAMINATED" below the circle with "x"'s in the logo it says "PLATE". There is a dot above the R in triplex but not under any letters in plate. Lower down in the logo is "AGREE" and there is a dot over each of the letters "E". Does anybody know how to date this glass? I really appreciate any information anyone might have on these parts.
Brian

I can't help with the rack but I'd say that those rear seats are not correct for either of your cars!
The first one with more pleats, closer together is the same as my late (1967) 850 Mk1 and the other (worse condition) one is what was used immediately before that - probably introduced around 1963?
Cooper models all had the two tone (colour and brocade) covers. A 1960 would have an earlier style probably with a fleck as well as a colour if a deluxe.
There was no "Super Deluxe" in 1960

Agree with seat comments, the better one has the later welded seams and more ribs.
I feel your pain btw, in 1990 I took apart a dry 970 and a 1071 as well as stripped the mechanical remains from a hydro 1275 - still sorting stuff now!!!

Your windscreen is second quarter of 1962, and is an export type for the USA. Note the dot above the R, with denotes first quarter, and L62V gives the year

The seats should have been grey. it's the frame I am most curious about and if either of them are correct. Perhaps both are wrong.Old English White wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 8:30 am I can't help with the rack but I'd say that those rear seats are not correct for either of your cars!

The reason I am calling the mini a Super-de-Luxe is because that is what the Heritage Certificate says it is. I think because it was destined for the States.

Rack and track rod ends look good for an early car.

Thank you. I spent some time researching the windscreen and did come up with the same result. L62V= Laminated 1962 USA. What I find funny is that Triplex ceased production of the "plate" glass around 1960 and this one is dated 1962. Maybe just the same logo with added info. "Agree"= French for certified and the two dots above the letters e are accent marks. TP.GS.6= French certification code.surfblue63 wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 9:55 am Your windscreen is second quarter of 1962, and is an export type for the USA.
