What is this red o ring?

It came with my gearbox gasket set from mini spares. The thickness of the rubber is 3.55 mm vs 3.52.and diameter across the ring just a little smaller. Both fit the in the gearbox/block suction seal recess. I think the black o ring is the standard item. Should I use the black one for 4 synchro box?

I can't find any info anywhere.

As far as I'm aware the seals are the same for 3 or 4 synchro boxes.

Never seen the red type - always used black ones.

Are the red ones softer a lower shore hardness but higher temp ?
