Rear Opening Quarter windows

Evening all, at a bit of a lost end as what to do with the opening rear quarter windows on my mini. Its an early 1960 shell and has the small window latches. The chrome on both windows is beyond it and bare in places, and it will need new glass both sides as have been damaged by grinder sparks.
What would be easier, either rebuild them? If so is it possible to re chrome the frame without it distorting? Or does anyone have a good pair for sale?
Cheers George

May be worth giving them a clean with some coca cola & tin foil, just to see how bad they look then.

The rust you're seeing on the frames may not be terminal. When chrome starts to fail the rust tends to form little 'blooms' through the chrome. A very mild abrasive followed by wax will often restore the chrome. It may not be perfect but it may be worth a try. I use a product called Nevr-Dull which is a wool wadding impregnated with an abrasive and wax to good effect.

I also swopped the frames over from side to side, usually the side that faces the rubber is in better condition than the outside. I also replaced all the screws on mine with stainless steel. I searched Somerford to find out the spec of the screws and ordered several on Ebay. The rubber between the glass and the frame was in very good condition on mine so I reused it but I've heard people use cycle inner tubes, although I think the Mini specialists sell it anyway.
