Does anyone know why my IWIS duplex chain came with two plates? Only one plate is needed to complete the link and then the circlips hold it in place.

I can understand a few extra circlip but not an extra plate. Am I missing something?

One plate in the middle one on the outside. I’ve found that if you put the circlip side nearer the block it fouls.

I came to that conclusion too. Thanks
