IWIS duplex chain.

Does anyone know why my IWIS duplex chain came with two plates? Only one plate is needed to complete the link and then the circlips hold it in place.

I can understand a few extra circlip but not an extra plate. Am I missing something?

Cheers.

You should have one plate with the 2 pins on one side of the chain then one plate goes in the middle of the chain and another on the outside of the chain with the circlips.

Of course!! I didn't think of the link in the middle and I didn't even notice. Thanks!. Just saved me making two big mistakes. (I'm building two engines).

The genuine IWIS duplex chain I bought from Keith Calver a year or two ago was continuous, no split link.

The Iwis chain I recently fitted was a continuous chain no join.

I was sent one of those ... turned out to be the wrong chain in the right box! Replacement was continuous.

I bought an IWIS duplex chain from a Mini parts dealer in London. The chain was too long, so I googled the part number on the box and found that it was an Alfa Romeo chain. I contacted them and told them about the problem, and recommended they should check the rest of the stock. I received another chain. Guess what! The new chain was too long

Bought two of them. They fit perfectly. The part number also shows split link on iwis site. Guess that settles it?
