On an early car with floor start, where does the wiring for that go... I assume it goes into the car through the main dash entry point, under the dash, and back out somewhat through the firewall and underneath the car to the floor star button. Or...... Do do those two Wires never go inside the car? Thanks

A big wire runs from the battery to the starter solenoid where it splits. A smaller wire runs from the battery side of the solenoid to the voltage regulator. Another big wire runs from the other side of the solenoid to the starter motor. Both wires run forward under the floor and then I think they both go up the engine side of the firewall. From the voltage regulator power then goes inside the car through the bulkhead to the ignition switch etc.

Just getting around to the wiring again... still unclear to me on a "floor button" start car where the small wires that attach to the hot side of the floor starter button are routed. They attach to the floor mounted starter button switch and run underneath the car, but do they

1.) run on the outside of the car up the engine firewall (near the exhaust manifold) and into the main instrument panel harness
2.) run on the outside of the car and enter the inside of car somewhere? and go up through the instrument panel wiring hole from the inside?

Thanks

This is a shot of my '63 Austin. You can see two wires coming through the floor just above the headlamp dip switch. Are these the starter wires you are talking about.
