Evening chaps.
As per title, I'm looking for advice for air filters for my sporty 1275GT (100 BHP)
MED assembly is a bit overt, k&N cones are nearly £200! I know this is a small price if it’s saves the engine..
Any other options?

I'm looking at ram pipes with 'socks' at the moment, but am also interested in alternatives..

Had the same "how much" cost issues .. so for my GT the solution was 2off Piper Cross Filters they are a soft foam filter cover with plated steel base & top.. work ok with a good intake noise but i dont care.

I'm currently assembling a 1400 CC GT power unit. The BOC it will power has had an interesting life. Beginning as an SPI that was converted to 40DCOE followed by a 44HIF. Nothing seemed to make this guy happy. I believe the SPI cam was not supporting the carb changes. The intake system currently is a pair of HIF38s off a MGB. I have looked at the choices and at the idea of a twin 1 1/4 Cooper housing. Nothing seemed right till I noticed how nice my test stand intake system twin 1 1/4s with the can type K&Ns. I ordered one center and one offset mount along with their stubs. Yes,the price was a little high. I really don't like the cone type filters. I'll try to get a picture posted. They do look the part. I’m now sorted with some K&N’s thanks to a forum member..
These are my preferred filter the problem we’ve had with foam filters in the past especially with webers is fuel/ vapour being absorbed into the foam , then a bit of a cough and it’s a fire ball..

I have a flat rectangular K&N washable element that was fitted to the van on a sort of quadrant moulding/ housing that sat behind the carb, with the filter facing upwards. Back then the plastic housing was cracked, so gaffer tape added a frison of style to the under bonnet area

Weirdly, I still have the element, but the housing has gone missing in the intervening years, so I think I'll have to mould something to suit.
