Shift boot

I just realized that my original style shift boot will not work with the rubber isolated style stick since the boot can't go over the tapered section on the stick. I presume I would need to source an older non-isolated stick from somewhere then or am I missing something?

That’s a pre-64 997/1071 gear change gaiter, 14A9941
You’ll need the 64-73 remote change gaiter, 22A608

I think I heard the change point was mid 64 and I think my car had one of these originally but the stick is nowhere to be found. I could either keep the original boot and get a stick or go with the later boot I suppose. Was trying to keep it looking as original as possible though...

I thought your S was Aug 65?

Didn’t the non-isolated gearstick 22A269 end well before then? - the approximate change points are in the AKD if you want to check against your chassis number.

I have this in my scrap pile if you want it. Just pay shipping. I think it’s a KAD quick shift.

It might be a little tight, but it could be made to fit with your pre-64 gaiter, and then you can switch it out for a straight Cooper stick if you find one later.

Or if you’re feeling adventurous you could grind out the weld, slide the pivot ball down to the normal place, and it’ll become a non-quick shift :)

Thanks Iain. I think I have a KAD quick shift hanging around here as well but I suspect it is too tall with the raised pivot point. As you said, you could modify it but maybe I will just have a look for an old stick.
