I love it ! Purely because it's a period conversion (by the owners dad ) ,whether I'd be saying the same if it'd been done last week , I doubt !

Here's what Roger Wall said about it a couple of years ago (from the MCR forum) when it was unearthed....

" Well talk about "POP 22" my "HAT" nearly Popped of my head, I had a phone call from a friend at a local garage to come and see a Mini. Only 3 of its type ever made, the two others have rusted away" he said. I siad "I will be there in 5".
It was made in the BMC factory wile they where on strike " well Arther Scargill has a lot to answer for" This Little Green Race Mini was made in 1960 approximately, by the present owners Dad. So I understand, having been in a garage for 30 years, the present owner has given it a good going over, its just passed its MOT, it had a 997cc Cooper engine put into it in 1964, but if you look under the bonnet now there is what looks like a reconditioned engine with no engine number, the rest of the work that has been done, although good, has not been done sympathetically, with brand new Break & Clutch cylinders, a few other modern bits fitted, still if I get a chance to talk to the owner. I may persuade him to put it back to original.
The interior has not been touched which is great, the dash looks wonderful straight out of the 1960s, as do the seats Restall Masterfit and they sure fit the car, no rear seats of course as the roof slopes down. The windscreen has been angled back for the airo dynamics, at one time it had twin tanks, but off side one has been taken out, and a modern one put in the near side."

Interesting car and history and great to see some of these more radical cars being loved again, BUT you can understand why there are no more about, the monaco had the better lines.
Was'nt the front off this car sold as an aftermarket accessory?

I like it, just imagine how much skill has gone into that!!! It's unreal, personally when I see something I tend to look past the appearance and appreciate it for the work that's gone into it! That is "bang tidy" ha, and they must have been on strike for a while to pop this beaut out!

For me the worst detail is the break in the roof gutter to the rear back panel to quarter seam.

Would have been easier on the eye if it was de-seamed at quarter and back panel.

But great to see another derivative saved from the abyss.

I agree, but this is only nit picking.

I really love that conversion - fantastic workmanship and looks amazing. Would love to see it in the tin to get a good butchers round it.

I like it. Its f**king ugly but I like it. Its all very "of the period" and that suits me just fine. Far from pretty with some fairly shocking lines but all in all it's still quite cool.
