the bentley oil seal saga is nearly over!
after spending ages attempting to get the propshaft flange out of the complete axle using various pullers, brass drifts, heat, swearing ect, I removed it to get it in a vice - all this resulted in was more swearing and a mashed up hand thanks to a hammer incident
I gave up and brought it into work to use the press!
the first attempt simply bent the bars holding the pinion in place, so we got some bits of angle and with a good load of pressure it let go with a huge bang!
note the use of tie bar blocks from adjustable tie bars to hold the pinion in place!
the good news is that the expensive oil seal isnt needed, the cheap felt washer has just about vanished, but thats only about 6 quid - note how little of it is left!
i might be back on its wheels before the month is out!
