MK1 bonnet latch spring position

Is this the correct position for the spring on a '63? This is how it looked on my car when I bought it but as the front panel had been replaced at some point I'm assuming it could be incorrect, the front panel has since been replaced with one from m Machine.
Or should the spring attach to the end of number 32 in this diagram and attach somewhere else...?
