When you think a standard 1.3 Corolla engine did 90 bhp in the early 90's. Flexible, perky, idles like a sewing machine and 40 mpg.

A Series tuning is very much the law of diminishing returns. Really, a solid flywheel 80 bhp from a 1300 is as far as you want to go. Such a Mini would wind round to a real 100 mph and break 60 in 9 seconds. Fast enough.

Anybody on here run a offset ground 1300 crank with S rods , is it a successful conversion to gain the extra stroke ?

Yes it gets the extra stroke BUT the counter weights are not big enough for the revision even when they are 'wedged'. They are "generally speaking" rough as buggery when run higher up the speed range and the standard crank dampers shag out in no time. Which in turn leads to shagged mains. The extra stroke leads to higher piston speeds so the rings don't seal as well and wear out faster.

Ok for a competition motor which gets torn down regularly and gets treated to new shells and a damper change.

For a road car you are better off with the standard stroke or a shorter stroke and a bigger bore, it will rev higher for the same piston speed, the crank is much stiffer so you can rev it higher for longer and it won't feel like a Ford Dover engine while it is doing it.
