Hi all,

Off to Brizzle this weekend and may pop along to see this car (wife's permission pending..!) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... escription

I have a few questions as i'm no pro with older minis. Would it be a deluxe or super deluxe (difference between the two)? I want to take the engine/chassis/body numbers away and also the FE number so someone here could date it for me. Can find chassis number/engine number but could you point me in the direction of body and FE locations?

Was hoping the more knowledgable among you could have a look over the pics and see if you can see anything bodged/in the wrong place/a bit fishy!?

It looks very solid for a mk1 and the fact it runs is a party bonus.

Ta in advance,

Alex

FE number is on the LH inner wing, just above where the chassis number plate is located on top of the radiator surround. Looked very solid to me, which is why I was also watching it to see for how much it will go - there's another Mini on Ebay that has my interest ;)

Hi Alex,

It looks like a pretty straight little Delux to be. Probably around 1961 - 2. The Super was effectively a 997 Cooper with an 850 engine & drum brakes, the Super deluxe came later & had the Cooper type oval speedo binnacle amongst other things.

It looks like the basis for a very easy restoration, if you are looking for something to do, & this car is as good as the pics make it look it could be just what you are looking for.

Let us know how you go or if you have any other questions.

Thank you all for your posts. Unfortunately I decided not to visit the car, having spoken with the wife i'm going to hang on until next year to find a solid MK1 project - the coffers need a it of a boost!

Was very tempted by this though and I hope someone puts it back on the road in double quick time.
