Mini Machine boot floor

Post by L7MAD »

Hi I'm just about to order up some replacement panels for my 1962 997 Cooper based resoration project and wondered what the differences are between the original boot floor and the replacement item available from Mini Machine, is it just the shape of the fuel pipe holes or is there more to it than that?

Cheers
Paul.

I believe they modify it to have the spare wheel clamp, fuel tank stand, modify the fuel pipe holes, and modify the seat pan 'lump' where I think the fuel pump goes on the later mpi's.

Make sure the rear holes in the boot floor were you mount the subframe to, are the right
distance apart and are in the right place as mine were not and have caused me loads of
trouble. This was not mini machines fault it was a heritage panel.
I have just gone back to mine now after 4 months I just got fed up with it and left. So hopefully with the
warmer weather I will get it sorted.

I believe heritage have rectified the problem now. Mine was ok and was bought in Nov/Dec last year.

Oh and don't make the same mistake as me, and forget to drill the tank strap anchorage point, or weld the loom tabs on!

Thanks all for your helpful comments. I get my shell back from the shotblasters this afternoon so I'll see whats left :( before I make my mind up to completely replace or repair the boot floor. I'll post some pics for an opinion.

Regards

Paul.
