Early Mk2 998 choke cable positioning

My Dad is currently rebuilding his late 67 Mk2 998 (non-Cooper) Mini.

The choke cable is the early non-twist type with CHOKE written across it and is positioned on the right hand side of the switch panel. The outer cable seems a bit too short to come through the bulkhead and fix into the carburettor from the top. The choke cable on my early Mk comes through and fixes into a plate and comes up to the carburettor from underneath. This same plate takes the throttle cable from above.

Do the early Mk2's have the same type of arrangement as the Mk1's and then changed when they went over to the later type of choke cable during 68 ?

Hope this make sense. Will take and post a picture up if not

I'm guessing no-one knows what I'm on about so here's a picture that will help.

You'll see the short looking cable.

Can anyone help ?

The cable is too short replace it with a longer one, the lines right compared to
mine though

Is yours an early Mk2 as well?

I have another early looking cable with CHOKE on it which seems to be the same length. Maybe they are both Mk1 cables that connect from underneath rather than on top.

No its a 69 but your cables too tight, mine curls round just
under the air filter
