For those looking for period pictures there is one Finnish site that might be worth a look. It is in Finnish but you can use search which is the magnifying glass in top right corner.

Tips:
1000 lakes is known in Finland as "Suurajot"

Surely any rally is a "suurajot"? (ie. "trial").
Before the FIA standardisation nonsense that brought us Rally Finland, Rally GB etc, the "1000 Lakes" was the "Jyvaskylan Suurajot" - "the Trial of Jyvaskyla". It certainly was when I did it.
In fact hasn't the "Rally of the 1000 Lakes" always been an unofficial name rather than an official one?

Jyväskylän Suurajot or Rally of 1000 Lakes was the official name at the time. Name is owned by some rally club in Jyväskylä who was the official organizer until late 90's. AKK which is the national Rally association, took over the organisator role at that time and they didn't get permission to the name or didn't want to pay for it. Or Something similar. I don't know ther facts.
