Headliner and C post for anoraks.

Hello,
Looking to pick some brains. I am currently restoring my headliner. After removing the brushed on paint I will clean and dye with a vinyl dye aerosol. Underneath the hodges paint it is a cream colour. I am not sure if it should be cream or if it should be white but has yellowed with age. It looks like this.

Also, my C posts are white but have a different pattern on them. They look like this.

The car is a 66 Morris super deluxe in island blue with grey interior. I have no idea what is original and correct. Are the C post trims correct? Should my headliner be white to match C post trims or cream? Cheers for your help.

In one of my books Island Blue MK1 SDL's with Cumulus grey interior should have a Pale Grey headlining.
No mention of c post trim though.
How definitive that book is I couldn't say.

Just been on newton commercials site for a gander and from 1962 on the Cream Crackle roof lining was introduced on all minis superseding the Pale Grey headlining.
The C post linings were also Cream Crackle from 1962 on.
So ignore my previous post.

Have never seen that type of C post trim, to my knowledge it ought to have the same pattern as the headlining.

Thanks for the replys. I would have also thought that it should match the headliner. The strange thing is that the C post trim and the strip under the rear window are some of the few parts on the car that actually look original and unchanged. However, if this were the case then they wouldn't match the headliner in pattern or colour as they are bright white and the headline is cream. Anymore info on my C post trim would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Daniel,
Was your car built in the UK or exported as a CKD kit and assembled somewhere other than the UK?
I have never seen interior trim with the little stars on like that.

I have no real knowledge of the history of my car except that it was first registered in 1986? Haven't yet gotten around to getting a history search and certificate from heritage. What is a CKD kit?

daniel, ckd stands for completely knocked down, cars sent for export in kit form.

CKD (as stated above, Complete Knock Down) cars were exported from the UK in kit form for assembly in local facilities around the world. This was done in an attempt to circumvent local import regulations, kits that were assembled locally incurred a MUCH Lower import duty rate than completed cars. All CKD cars had some degree of "local content" (depending on the country they were exported to) this usually included things like the trim, seats, carpets etc. These materials were invariably different to UK spec. As I have never seen an example of the star material on a car before I suspect that your car may have been a CKD kit with this material sourced locally.

it actually look similar to mine, an Ozzy CKD car.
the C post trim is the same as under the back window, but very different from the headliner.
i'll go out and get some pics in the morning, and post them up.

This is very interesting. So far the only thing out of place that I can see is this 'c' post trim. The carpets are correct as there was an original piece left under the dash however it had an after market interior in it when i bought it so who knows what seats it had. It does now have the correct cumulous grey interior. This would also explain why the log book says it was first registered in the UK in 1986. It was probably imported back in to the country then. It does appear to be original right hand drive. Any idea what country it could have gone to or how to find out? Somebody mentioned that a CKD wont have the body numbers. Where should I look to determine weather or not it had these? Cheers,

if it's come from Australia.
it will have a number stamped into the fire-wall, just to the left of the speedo hole (master cylinder side on a R/H drive car)
it should have an ID plate with a YMA2S2 (then chassis number)
there is also a number stamped into the radiator cowl that should be "about" 500 lower than the chassis number (mine is only 250 lower). they vary because of BMC's excellent record keeping skills.
it will have no FE plate.
i can't remember what to look for in a New Zealand build car.

It does have an FE plate. Just checked. It's under loads of paint but I can make out the letters 'F' 'E' and maybe a number 9. The rest is burried too far in paint. So not a CKD. That C post trim must have been installed by somebody at some point. Strange as it is fitted very well. Even going under the rear window rubber and everything. Still a mystery why the log books says registered in 1986. Maybe somebody sold the number plate or lost the log book or something. Now, question is do I keep the strange trim as a quirky bit of history or swap it for proper stuff?

here are the images i promised. not the same as dhenry's.
but these have never ever been removed from the car, this was the locally produced interior.
this is the pattern of my C pillar

and my hoodlining

It would be quite interesting (in a nerdy sort of way) to know what other patterns of C post material were ever used.
Any other offers?
