I saw these 2 (1960 ?) morris mini minors today about to be put into a shipping container. I think they are bound for the land of the rising sun.

It shows that the Japanese mini fans are still buying cars as long as they are good ones.
They look like a couple of crackers.

Nice cars..
I talked to a person two weeks ago, who bought Minis back from Japan.
He said that they needed the money....

Sorry Nick no, nice though.. Think you're right about the dates although I can't see the screen surround properly on the Clipper one to see if they are recessed or not.
Your old SA car might be coming back on the market soon too.

I 'bought' the red car (XSR 798) about a month ago from the carandclassic website....sent the guy a deposit for £500 which he cashed and I was due to pick it up from Elgin in Scotland a few weeks later. When I phoned him to arrange collection he told me that his disabled son had grown very attached to the car and he wanted to hang on to it - not much you can say to that so I got my deposit back.
Now I see this picture on the forum.....I'm beginning to lose the little faith I had in humankind!!!!!
Definitely going to email him with a link to this forum though.

Maybe the disabled son had a change of heart. That's sad though.
Both cars are flat surround, 2 hole glass and mostly correct (apart from the wiper blades on the red one). I saw at least 1 morris kickplate but it was missing the metal strip. I would have liked to see under the bonnets but did not like to ask,..

looks like there was another Mini, under the cover, next to the Blue.

Yes. The covered up one appeared to be a late one with arches and big wheels. I can't get too excited by such things being the old git that I am.

Both between May and October 60 then.

he told me that his disabled son had grown very attached to the car and he wanted to hang on to it
That is a particularly shitty trick on so many different levels!

Ditto, I think you can safely assume that what you were told was a load of shite, as if was genuine then he would have contacted you and let you know it was for sale again. I hope he doesnt have a son because if i where the son of that man id be kicking my dads teeth in.
Than man obviously drinks ALOT of Horlicks at night time..

Maybe it's the recession but honest sellers aren't that common. I recently picked up a(nother) project and the seller had removed a new set of Omegas from the boxes which were only detected once I'd handed over the wonga.

I'm not a violent man Rich but did feel a wobbler coming on !
His 'story' was that his engine man had 'lost' them and that he'd post them on,.... as if !!
I got some money back after I explained how this wasn't the done thing.
I then found out who his engine man was
and called him who revealed the tissue of lies. He must feel a right arse now.

Funnily enough i've had a guy from Malaysia pestering me about JFO, with some digging he's known in that part of the world so seems genuine...that said JFO looks to be staying in UK..

Here's a nice picture of the Clipper blue one taken by my Mrs. on her iPhone. The Newton interior has powder blue and grey fleck which surprised me a bit. I thought the blue should have been darker. At least the wiper arms are bent the right way. I hope no-one paid a deposit for this one as well.
