Any tips for doing this without stuffing up the fluting on the rad? It's going into a MK1 with conventional plastic fan but last time round i managed to make a right mess of the rad  - is there a particular sequence i should follow? :? Any tips much appreciated. ;) Cheers, Niall.

might sound daft, but tape a piece of cardboard to the rad face that can be removed when its in place. It helps a bit.

My pork pie hands dont help on this job!!

I also modifed the bottom shroud so that I can fit it first and then put the rad in place. Not ideal if it's a show queen though.

OK tks Dave, i'll do that - do you normally fit the fan first and then try and shove the rad down past it or do it the other way round? :? :? I tried both and the first method looked like it was goind to end in a badly crushed rad and with the second i just couldnt get the fan between the fitted rad and the 'nose' of the water pump - arrrgh!!

N.
PS. Will suss out those bits this wend and report back. ;)

I ended up doing both - it was really fiddly though. I put the bottom bracket in, fitted the rad to it, then put the fan on, then put the top half of the shroud on.
