hi all, well im slowly getting through all the teething problems now my 62 mini is back on the road. next job is to sort the fuel gauge out! the needle sits at halfway all the time...anybody have any ideas what the problem might be? minispares website says something about a voltage stabilizer and matching gauge with sender? any advice welcome.

Not too hot on lectrix, but the voltage stabiliser may need checking and or the fuel sender in the tank.
Process of elimination I'm afraid.

take the "live wire off the sender unit on the tank and, with ignition on, earth the wire against the body,if the gauge goes to full, then the sender unit is faulty, if the gauge remains in the same position then it is more than likely the gauge. ian.

No voltage stabiliser on a 62. If one is fitted you probably have the wrong speedo. Pre-voltage stabiliser cars use moving coil meters for both temp and fuel. These are easily identified by the fact that they both have 2 terminals at one side and 1 at the other. Later, bi-metallic, gauges have only 1 terminal at each side.
If needed we have examples of early type gauges (fuel in silver or black).
Hope this helps.
