Is this a Serck tank?

Helping a lad identify some parts and I spotted this, he thought it was a home made job, but I recognised it as what I thought was a Serck tank.

Well is this a Serck tank?

I'm in Australia, so they are incredibly rare here, all our Cooper S's had twin tanks as standard.

Could you please fill me in the story about these please.
Assume they were an english company
When were they available (yrs) etc?

A question about them from me too......... What was the price of the Serck extra fuel tank? And were they much cheaper than the real McCoy? The BMC right hand tanks were pressed, assembled and tested at Marston Radiators just off the Woodstock Road in Oxford

The Serck services tank was produced from 1960 and was even used on some early cars by the factory. It was recognised early on that the fuel capacity was a bit lacking for long trips & Serck capitalised on this.

It is the best known of the after market tanks & was retailed by many 3rd parties including Alexander. Other RHTY options were the Taurus alloy RHT.

A Serck services tank retailed by Alexander was £9 (1966)

A Speedwell RHT (Made by Motorsports (Manchester) Ltd. was £8.10s from Speedwell or £8.8s from the manufacturer. (1964)

A Taurus Alloy RHT was £11.19.6 (1964)

A new EFT from BMC was £10 in 1966 - so not that much difference in price.

Sorry to go off the subject but it's due to age and my ability to wander of course....... The BMC tank fell off the parts list in the early to mid 70's but the interconnecting pipe was still available from Hartwells here in 1983/4 when I was restoring mine as I fitted a new one. I picked up a new BMC tank in unpainted white metal from Marston Radiators in the mid 80's plus a new MGB GT V8 tank too. All for the scrap value of about £2 - for both!
