Thinking of running a Webber DCD on my mini.
Before I get too exited do they actually fit under the bonnet? :|

I used to run one on my tunes 998. It did fit under the bonnet just, but it was very close. I seem to remember squashing the filter flatter to prevent it vibrating on the bonnet under load.

I also experienced carb icing issues and ran a pipe into the side of the filter from down the back of the exhaust manifold.

To be honest it was the worst carb I’ve ever used. I never got it running right and it didn’t produce as much power as a HS4.

Up to you of course but I wouldn’t bother. Vizard recommended them if economy was what you were after though.

Knew someone in period who (for reasons he could never explain) changed to one from twin SUs on a std 998 Cooper.
His starting procedure on cold mornings came to involve pouring a kettle of hot water over it.
Having said that, I once navigated on a major regional rally in it and it ran fine...........once started from cold.

Hope that's an ironic comment!

Views seem to be agreed - don't touch it with a barge pole.

No not ironic....
Had people rate a DCD better than SU's so not sure myself as i've never had a DCD.
Having said that i'm going to try one on my 1300 build....

The point was the two who answered here both recommended against. What other people may have said elsewhere wasn't at issue.

If is was tight on a 998, it will be even tighter on a 1275.

Well, here we are a few years later.....
The weber was and still is fitted, it did confuse me for a bit as it is a lot more technical than the simple su's.
Great bits of kit, it blew me away that they have an idle circuit :D
Anyhow, I had it set up on a rolling road and all is good.
If you see me at any shows pop over and have a look.
Dan..

Glad to hear that you got it working properly.

It's always good to see people using something different!
