As many will know Cliff Porter of the MCR is organising an event to commorate fifty years of the Mini Cooper to be held at Prescott hillclimb on 25/26 June.

http://www.prescott-hillclimb.com/june2011.aspx
I'm aiming to enter the speed event as are others I know and I'm currently working on the Bugatti OC to provide an MCR class. As several competitors hang around this forum I thought I'd give this a heads up in case anyone's interested as it looks to be a good day's sport at a cracking little venue. There'll be a special display of Minis in the paddock and one or two famous drivers inc Paddy Hopkirk.
Please let me know if you fancy putting an entry in for the hillclimb, doesn't have to be a specific hillcimb/sprint car, you can run a road, race or rally car so long as it meets current MSA safety regs.
Cheers
Pete

All round to Chris's for a barby then !!
Yes it does look a great venue for a hillclimb, compared to most I've been to where you normally have to shelter behind sheep to keep warm. There's a filmshow on the Sat night aswell apparently, shaping up to be a good weekend !

Just a quick update on this event. I've provisionally managed to blag a class purely for Minis on the hillclimb (and a Hornet !) but numbers will be very limited so anyone with a competition car (doesn't have to be a hillclimber), racer or rally car that wants a go please get in touch. Meetings at Prescott are few and far between so it's a good chance to have a go on the course and enjoy some good company
Also Gordon Spice will be there on the Saturday driving a Britax replica.
More competition news coming soon.

Pete, are you running your imaginary Hornet? The photos are thin on the ground

I'm quite good at collecting photos but pretty shit at taking any. Last time I took some of the car I lost the fekin camera !
It's nearly finished now anyway, sent my Prescott entry off today. Loads of problems along the way, especially the engine I chose to use. Damaged block, scrap gearbox casing, yadda yadda but it's all coming together now.

Really sorry that I cannot enter my car as I am spectating in Ypres that weekend and also the car is in many bits at the moment following Cadwell.
It sounds like it will be a great event, so hope you all enjoy it.
I am looking forward to meeting you Surf as your knowledge and pictures etc, etc, are astounding.
Wont be out till Croft weekend.
Regards
Mike

Not so sure on the knowledge bit
but yes hopefully I'll see you at Croft. Generally I think this Prescott idea of Cliff's is a winner cos there's live action and pretty cars to look at at a decent venue, a nice combo.

I've just got back from the 1st day of La Vie en Bleu event at Prescott. 1 Mini and 1 Mini Marcos but classes from Cooper 500's to Ferrari Owner Club with demonstration runs of Bugatti Vey????ns but not had time to download pictures. An MGB had a nasty "inversion" before the first bend and I did not get the picture!!!! Driver OK but now poorer. If you want to come along to the event please get in touch as I am collecting tickets/wristbands on 6th June for distribution on 14th June. Prescott are very welcoming and looking forward to our presence. If you can't make the whole weekend why not book for Sunday 26th June. Prescott is a very spectator friendly venue and everyone will be able to be close to the action. Advance ticket sales with me will close on 12th June but if you want to make a late decision tickets will be available on the gate but if you send me a pm, no later than Thursday I will try and get your car into our special parking area.

Just a quick update, I didn't manage to get an MCR class at this event after all as BOC now won't be running a Nat B class. Anyone entered with an A license will be considered but it's oversubscribed anyway so unlikely to get in.
Ho hum, I did try.

Have just got back from Prescott with a copy of the entry list; a great variety of cars and I understand the long range forecast is good so it should be a fantastic weekend.
Class C1 - Modified Limited Production cars up to 1400cc (Target time 48.80secs) Record 49.54 secs (the 5th entry!)
4 of 5 entries are Minis including a former MCR Competition Secretary - Brian Davage.
Brian Dennis is in class E/F (Target time 41secs)
In class P1 - Classic Saloon cars up to 1971 (Target time 49.70secs)
3 out of the 11 entries are Minis
Dave West who ran the MCR championship for many years is entered, but with his Peugeot !!!!!!!! (But he still has his MIni)
If you have not made your mind up and wish to buy advance tickets your last chance will be at Beaulieu on Sunday. If you want to but a ticket but cannot find me in the main arena with my car please leave a message at the Regalia/membership tent.
Most of our cars at Prescott will be parked together in the Public car park as a display, if you decide to come on the day we will try and find space. There will also be a display in the paddock by the Start line, fully booked.
Don't forget there will be a supper & film evening on Saturday 25th.
Cliff
