New Traveller Project in Texas

OK, I'm going to post my new project here. It may be some time before actual work starts, but I'd like a little feedback from you guys on what I actually have. I have been a "classic" aircooled
VW guy for the last 40 or so years, but I've always want a Mini. A deal came up on this Traveler that I couldn't refuse, so here we go. It came with no paperwork and no factory ID tag that I can
find. It has an "assigned" VIN from the state of California. The car is in, what I consider, pretty bad shape, but I live in the land of rust free cars. I believe it may be a '67 as seen on the wiper motor body.
I know almost nothing about these cars and I've spent a few weeks on this and other forums doing due diligence. I don't know if it's an Austin or a Morris and maybe that doesn't matter at this point, on with the pics!

The car had been stashed away in an obscure airfield in North Texas for a number of years. Various parts of old airplanes were also scattered about.









Engine tag. Any ideas what I have here? I've found various claims on the internet search.




The wiper motor.











Front disc brakes were added at some point.


Wee bit of a blowout!


It has two front seats, but the frames have been chopped up on the bottom for some reason.


It'll be a while before I start any real work as I have at least one VW Beetle if front of it. For now it's in a new home surrounded by Germans.

Looks to have a 1275 from an ado16 and s discs so it's obviously been someone's weapon of choice in years gone by!

I've been watching your progress Andrew and trying to learn some techniques for repairing these little cars. I have much to learn!!

The front indicators look for all the world like NSU Prinz rear light units. Only thing is, I'm pretty sure they only came in amber and red, not clear. I suppose they could just be generic trailer lights, they look pretty smart all the same. Certainly a car with character and one that would be neat to see restored as is rather than back to factory.

Did Austin Americas get the GT engine ? This clearly has an 11 stud head.

Sorry folks, just checking in. Nothing much has happened on the project yet. Just a bit of tidying up.
I'm pretty cluesless as the the front lights and the 11 stud head. I continue my Mini studies and hope
to begin work on it in the near future!
