could any one tell me where the best place is to fit them ....where were they fitted when fitted as an option in 65 ?
I'm fitting recliners and not sure if they will clash at the side of the bin . but less work there as needs level platform in front of bin?

As in the lower picture but a little further out from the pocket. These are original holes for an Autolok mounted on the bracket rather than bolted direct to the floor.

thanks Simon
that's interesting as the bins I used had those some similar hole half stamped out , I did wonder what they were for . I will have to see if I can find the correct bracket .

Did you ever find any details for mounting these inertia reels?

Hi Rich
No not really , but after looking at where they would have been positioned with the correct bracket, I decided not to fit them like this , really because it looks neater to fit them tighter to the bins by bolting through the flute in the floor. This is the bracket that I made to do it like this.

interesting ...looks like I assumed wrongly that the 2 holes in Simons image were for the reel .
the reel would be tighter up to the bin than I thought with the correct bracket

Thanks for the help. I have the same model. I found these photos on ebay a few years ago, there should be an additional bracket between the bottom and the roll of the belt.

The strengthening plates to secure the inertia bit are very important to prevent the belt fixing pulling through the floor as I learned when involved in an accident, luckily without injury.

The support plates can be created easily at home.
Do you need the measurements from the original?

When I have time, I take measurements. Britax instructions, just washers and bolt. But I would create a lower reinforcement plate.

Out of interest, here's what someone here in Australia has done to enable the inertia reel belt mechanism to be mounted without fouling the aftermarket seats he plans to install.
This looks to be a great method, ingenious in fact, if you don't mind some metal fabrication and aren't too concerned with originality, or allowing leg room for rear seat passengers.
