hi everyone.
I've just bought the above car. Now I need to build it up.
I don't think I can do it justice on my own so I'm looking for help either from an individual or a company.
I'm located between Reading and Basingstoke so if there's anyone around the Berkshire\Hampshire area that you can recommend I'd be grateful.
I'll post a couple of photo's of the car later on

As listed previously. Give it a good, long hard looking at and then decide how you want to build it. Maybe get some pictures up of the end, desired build if possible or pictures of cars on which you think are of exceptional standard, on the walls of the garage.
Sort everything out in the order it needs to go together, try and source the missing bits (and there will be!) and then enjoy it.
Don't set unrealistic deadlines and if you get stuck, have a brew and another think. It'll get there and you have a lovely base to start with.
Don't rush it, it's not going anywhere now you have bought it!!

Do it yourself. It will be so rewarding. I am only down in Sussex. I'd be willing to lend a hand one saturday or sunday. Looks like fun. I am quite jealous because every car I ever get to build is rusty and patched together. You get to start with a brand new shell! It will be like lego.

Cracking project and a good deal you got there Sinbad ! All the nightmare stuff is already done so will be a pleasure to work on for anyone. You've got to paint that roof black though mate, works replicas are soooo common.

All mk1 S's built in Ireland came out of the factory in red and white like the works cars. So it could be finished as an Irish spec S
I would leave it until you finish the car it's easy to change the colour of the roof at the end when you can see the full picture. I agree with the lads do it yourself you will get some great advice from some of these guys with great experience with mk1 S and we will all enjoy watching your progress.

......right I'm in.
thanks for the advice and words of encouragement.....and the offers of help.
I'll start going through the parts and try and work out whats what.
then the hard bit of deciding what it's going to look like and the spec
I'm already formulating a long series of questions on; Loom, suspension, electrics, seats, engine bay.....................
Regarding the roof; I might go between the two camps on the colour. I'll mask it up in a chequered pattern and give it a quick spray of matt black.

Rather than painting the roof, get a graphics company to sticker it. It wont cost much more and you could remove it.
Once its got painted squares on, its difficult to remove the marks fully. That would be a shame on such a nice paint job.

Better yet. Forget the roof and start building. Good luck.

If it helps im about to start building mine up (hopefully to tackle the monte historique) - most of the questions in your head ive already answered for my self so i know where im heading - my first job is the loom which is going to be a std loom but were making an additional over loom to supply the rally clocks, lights, accessories etc ( theres always the plan to be able to turn it back to a normal road car if need be).

sounds perfect. I'm away this weekend, but after that I'm going to go through the parts. I know there's a bit of wiring in the assorted boxes but I'm not sure if it's a full loom and if it's in decent condition.
Where did you get your loom from?
