Can anyone identify the car these might have come off?

Post by chris-pilling »

Hello,
Does anybody recognise what these came off originally? im restoring some wood and pickett doors and these are out the quarterlights. I was going to have the re-chromed but im too embarrised to ask them to chrome them as there a bit of a waste of time for them to do them. So i thought id try and source them new before i result in asking them to get there tweezers out!

for some reason im thinking morris minor?

They look like the ones from the Export Innocenti Minis? Do you have a snap of the rest of the quarterlight?

Yes Wood & Pickett shurely used the Inno quarters 8-)

they are not the Tilling quarter type, as W&P used on the Elite models -

these are made from chromed brass, and dont have that little "bit" in the picture.

I have also seen a third type used by W&P, but I dont know what car they came off?
seem to remember, that these could not open.

Hello, thanks for your comments.

These are opening quarters, they swivel on those pins (as pictured) and also via the bottom finishing strip which has a swivel pin in the middle of it. Jc the items pictured at steel and not brass as there rusting.
I have a feeling one is original and the other is perhaps not? perhaps home made? or it perhaps had been altered to suit the glass as one of the pieces of glass in a replacement. If need be i can make some out of brass but it will take blummin ages! i just thought if i could buy some it would save me a job!

If anybody is interested i am doing away with the electric motors as i prefer wind up windows so they are surplus to requirements! they are rolls royce ones (not sure which model though) jc might know the answer to that one? they have the mounting plates too.

Hi Chris-P, you misunderstood, I meant the Tilling version were made frem Brass, not yours.

I can see yours are rusted, but if yours are Inno, it should be easy to find out?

is it MK III doors ? or MK II with chain driven windows ?

do you have the swithces for them??

Yes, they look like free floating quarter window bracket parts towards the front of door windows, sold in europe like Belgium and Italy, and places like that. Australia too, maybe.

Sorry JC yes there mk3 doors with motors with the long arm. The reason i didnt think they were inno was because the position of the normal regulator is where it would be on a uk car.

I ended up breaking the whole car as i bought it as a project for my brother but it was two much for him and when i made a start i pulled the carpets out of it one half of the floor pan was red and the other blue.. haha, the best cut and shut ive ever seen but i wasnt going to go any further with the shell. So it now sits there in bits.. i will have the switches somewhere.. cant remember where i put them!! haha there black and chrome as i seem to remember?

cheers austinuseless!!!!! i will look into it, i must say im shocked though!!!! :o

your reply doesnt send me to a link to boyzone back in the 90's on there european/upside down tour!? ;)

i think im going to have to make use of what i have for the moment and when i have a bit more time make some out of brass and get them chromed..

cheers chris

Maybe as a temporary measure clean them up and give them a lick of chrome paint?
