Restoration feature in Mini World Mag

Just had an E Mail from Karen Drury saying that my car AKY 188B could be featured in the Technical Section of Mini World in a Restoration Log Journal type of thing spread over a few issues. Does anyone have any suggestions of what subjects such as trimming or whatever people would find interesting as the car is being restored? All i have to do is take plenty of photos and learn to write like a Journo!!

Congratulations Tim,
I'm sure it will make an interesting feature.
If you have to "write like a Jurno" I would suggest that the most important thing is make sure you get lots of basic facts WRONG & that in Mini World a Mini is always referred to as "Mini".
On a more serious note, If you do nothing else, can you show me how to fit those bloody fillet pieces that go down the front & back edges of the doors, I can never get them to fit correctly.

dont forget that if its going in mini world you must also have at least one picture of either karren or kay dury in your feature, preferably with one of their cars in shot as well.
its a legal requirement of mini world. probably

YES PLEASE..... and if someone could copy it to the website. UK Minimags are not that easy to come by in Oz these days....
Cheers, Ian

I can get them easy enough in Tassie, the Aussie one is so much better though.

Also worth remembering that if you need to mention a Clubman it is called a Clubby, a Subframe is known as a Subby etc, I’m sure they have more “specialist terms” too.
But since the sale of Mini World it does seem to have improved a bit and I hope that having guys like you on board it will continue to do so. Well done and good luck.

oh,
and make sure its a blatent ringer,
i had to laugh at last months mini world where the article went to great lengths to mention that the owner wasnt trying to fool anyone with his 1989 mk1 look a like, that he had transfered a older plate onto it to make it look old
on the dvla site the plate still shows that its on a mk1...............

Yep, an advert in the back seems to be the 'norm' for 95% of cars featured

Thank goodness I'm not the only one!! I hate it when you go round a sharp corner and the fillet ends up in the footwell!!
Did anyone else notice in Miniworld a couple months ago in the article about the Police Minis that the "original" Minivan was actually a Clubman Estate - Mk3 doors and wind down windows slightly gave the game away. I don't think the Police drove around on reverse 'S' rims either. Cracking looking wee van though with the van sides and round nose complete with pressed grille. Have thought about doing that to a Clubman Estate so many times.

Sounds like an intersting project!
You also have to blag as many freebees from companies, in exchange for a mention in your write up.
A step by step guide to fitting those bloody boot seals and clips would be good...I have always resorted to fitting the later type that goes on the shell.

I just glue it in place, just use normal contact glue, then its easy to remove again.
