OK I have a damaged thread in one of the heelboard subframe mountings , how is this best / easily rectified as its difficult to get at without significant bodywork / sill removal.

Helicoil it, a well inserted helicoil is stronger than the thread it replaces.

If a helicoil won't work or the bolt snapped.

My way is crude but it works.
The stripped nut can be punched off the panel in to the box section leaving a big hole.. Then I file a nut slightly round till it will hammer in to the hole. Thread the nut on a bolt and hammer it in to the hole. If it's a tight fit it will bend the heelboard in slightly. when its in enough hold the bolt straight and mig weld round the nut, filling in the bent edge. Take out the bolt.

If the fixings are separate nuts it will work. I think some cars had a one piece metal block with two threaded holes. Maybe some one else can help to confirm this or is it my memory playing up.
